Principal Use

This product is designed to be used on a variety of surfaces on a daily basis to prevent a build-up of grime. CS-223 is formulated to be an efficient cleaning agent to prepare surfaces for an effective sanitation treatment. Some mechanical scrubbing may be required on highly soiled surfaces.

Composition

This product is a mild surfactant based cleaner.

Directions

Apply CS-223 after rinsing processing equipment or other surfaces with fresh water. Remove any left over product and associated debris from processing equipment before applying CS-223. Apply CS-223 in a proper dilution system at a rate of 1 part soap to 5, 10 or 20 parts water. Allow foam to contact equipment surfaces for 10 minutes, and do not allow product to dry on surfaces before rinsing. Thoroughly rinse from equipment surfaces before applying sanitizers or resuming production operations.

CS 7600

Benefits

Principal Use

This product is designed to be used on a daily basis to prevent build-up of grime and organic soil on equipment. CS-7600 is formulated to be an efficient cleaning agent to prepare surfaces for an effective sanitation treatment.

Composition

This product is a high pH (alkaline) cleaner that contains sodium hypochlorite.

Directions

Apply CS-7600 after rinsing processing equipment or other surfaces with fresh water. Remove any left over product and associated debris from processing equipment before applying CS-7600. Apply CS-7600 in a proper dilution system at a rate of 1.5 to 5 ounces to one gallon of water. Allow foam to contact equipment surfaces for at least 10 minutes, but do not allow product to dry on surfaces before rinsing. Thoroughly rinse from equipment surfaces before applying sanitizers or resuming production operations. Wear proper personal protective equipment while working with this product.

Jet-Ag is a broad spectrum antimicrobial oxidizer that kills microorganisms quickly at labeled use rates and is exempt from the requirements of a tolerance under 40CFR 180.1196. Jet-Ag reduces disease and improves fruit quality and grade. Jet-Ag can be used as part of your regular disease management program in a spray rotation to provide a broad spectrum, antimicrobial treatment that helps manage fungicide resistance and residue tolerance concerns with other products. The Cleaning Process

Basic steps required for effective equipment cleaning:

1. Remove large debris and leftover product (leaves, sticks, fruit, etc.) from processing equipment and surrounding area.
2. Apply a fresh water rinse of equipment surfaces that are to be cleaned and sanitized.
3. Apply equipment cleaning solution (such as heavy-duty foaming cleaning compound) to all equipment surfaces.
4. Follow label directions for cleaning chemicals, ensuring adequate contact time. Do not allow foam cleaning product to dry on equipment surfaces – apply a fresh water rinse to all equipment surfaces to remove the cleaner and debris liberated by its cleaning action. Ensure that all surfaces contacted by the cleaner have been thoroughly rinsed.
5. Following the directions on the sanitizer label, apply a final sanitizing spray on the previously cleaned and rinsed surfaces. No rinse sanitizers are preferred.

Technical Bulletin: Equipment Cleaning and Sanitation: Combating the Hidden Enemy

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued its Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables in 1998 to highlight key points of emphasis in preventing food borne illness associated with produce. These guidelines, known as Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), focus primarily on prevention of contamination and cross contamination. While a great deal of research in recent years has focused on recycled water quality used in produce handling and washing operations, equipment cleaning and sanitation has been somewhat overshadowed in its potential role in cross-contamination of fruits and vegetables.

The key concept in the GAP guidelines is that prevention of contamination must be practiced at all stages of handling in order to effectively deliver wholesome product to the consumer. Thus, a deficient or non-existent packinghouse cleaning program can negate preventative steps taken to improve other facets of the harvest and packing operation...
